Hi, as many of you know, I'm a book junkie. I thought it would be
interesting to find out what books you enjoy, the ones that influenced you
or touched you in a special way. Take some time and give me your top 5 to
10 favorite books. Books you may have read as a child, during a rough time
in your life, any that really made an impact on you. I am always looking
for new books to read, by new I mean, ones I haven't read yet.
thanks,
Carla

To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee. Blindsighted, Karin Slaughter. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, J.K. Rowling. A Golden Age, The Autobiography of Sir Steve Redgrave and, Fever Pitch, Nick Hornby.
It's probably just me, but I do tend to like various sporting autobiographies, of people who have acomplished great things or overcome huge odds. I find them quite inspiring. I'm also addicted to the Harry Potter books, cos they are very well written, and act on a kids and more adult level. Which too is the case with Animal Farm. Fever Pitch is great, I'm an avid Arsenal supporter, so I can relate to that book on many levels. And if you like any sort of crime fiction, then you have to check out Karin Slaughter, as her crime novels are my latest addiction, and I'd recommend them to anyone :).

The Rubaiyat, Omar Kaiam.

Thanks. It's one of those things from childhood that hangs around in the back of the mind, like a comforting hum, so that you never think about it until someone asks, and then realise that you can't really define it and don't really know much about it.... but thanks for looking it up. *smiles*

Well, 5 is just a number, I can't even keep it to 5. Here are a few of mine....
These aren't in any numerical order. I guess I'd do better listing my top
10 authors.
I just can't put a number on these, and it's hard to narrow it down to just
10.
The James herriot series, All creatures great and small, etc...
The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber,
Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross and the latest I've yet to read, A
Breath of Snow and Ashes.

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbra Kingsolver
Mother of Pearl by Melinda Haynes
Kings Oak by Ann Rivers Siddons, actually anything by her

The Magician's assistant by Ann Patchett
Storyville by Lois Battle
An excess of love by Cathy Cash Spellman

anything by Sharon Kay Penman

Welcome to the world Baby girl and Standing in the Rainbow by Fannie Flagg

anything by Wilbur Smith

I've read quite a few good books... even lately.
"Wish you Well" by David Baldacci (It's kind of an inspirational story); "The Innocent" by Harlan Coben (terrific suspense novel); "The Blue Bottle Club" by Penelope J. Stokes (I'm scanning it so if anyone wants this inspirational novel, let me know); "The Center of Everything" by Laura Moriarty (It's a chick book, but not overly so); The Left Behind Series by Tim lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins; I'm also REALLY getting into this series by Stephen White (He writes psychological suspense).
I hope these recomendations help.

Honestly, I'd have to say anything by Tim Winton, Bryce Courtney, or Dianne Morrisey.
If you enjoy historical fiction, you'll also like the People of the Earth Series by Kathleen O'Neal and Michael W Gear. Geoffery is also another of my favourite authors.
